We’ve all heard the expression “when it rains, it pours” but in Chicago it’s more like “when it snows, it snowstorm’s for days…”
I’m so over the snow at this point, it’s not even funny. To top it all off, February is slowly turning out to be one of the most challenging months I’ve encountered yet in my life. Some days more than others I’m reaching for my gratitude book to remind myself that I have a lot of be thankful for at the moment.
One thing to be thankful for is near 60* weather in Chicago this week and I for one couldn’t be more thrilled by the prospect of ditching my puffy jacket and pulling on this houndstooth jacket I picked up last week from Zara.
Houndstooth has slowly become a go-to print of mine this year and I’m seriously in love with this coat; I’ve worn it three times since purchasing it last week. It’s under $100 and the detailed piping is a lovely way to look professional yet have fun with a print.
It’s been quite interesting to see how much I’ve been gravitating toward black and white pieces lately, as seen here and here and here. As someone who use to live for colorful clothing, I’ve slowly gravitated out of that phase of my life and into a much more simplistic one. Don’t get me wrong, I still love me some color but in general I find myself purposely choosing pieces in black and white.
Since so much of my life has changed lately, and I already feel pressed for time these days, the last thing I want to be doing is color coordinating my clothings in the morning. These days I grab a blouse, like this contrasting piped blouse and a bottom, like this cargo skirt and I’m out the door in 10 minutes knowing I look professional and put together.
Sometimes, you just have to go with the flow and embrace the choices you make on a day to day.
