Winter Prints // Windowpane

Why the windowpane skirt is the most versatile item in your closet

How do you feel about printed fabrics for the workplace? Love them, hate them, never really thought that much about them?

Truth be told, I’ve never really thought much about them. So it came as a surprise to me when last week after a meeting a co-worker of mine complimented me on wearing this printed windowpane skirt to the office; something she felt she couldn’t pull off because “wearing prints to the office was stressful.”

It quickly got me thinking – do others feel like wearing printed fabrics to the office is stressful?

For me, prints have been a way to express my style and a great way to extend the life of my wardrobe. As someone who likes to sleep in until the last possible second, having a versatile printed piece makes getting ready in the morning a snap. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of prints, especially during the spring and summer months.

So when this windowpane skirt from LOFT went on sale over the holiday’s, I immediately scooped it up. Windowpane is a great everyday print and this navy and white color is a great neutral that can easily be paired up with just about anything. Since we had some warmer days last week, (yes, I’m talking about 40 degrees which basically means summer in Chicago…) I paired up this skirt with my favorite cashmere sweater. Unfortunately, this Michael Starr sweater has been sold out for years, but this Everlane version comes highly recommended and is very similar.

So I would love to know how you guys feel about prints? Do you love them or do they stress you out?
