And just like that, the first weekend of the new year has arrived….
January has normally been my month of hibernation, my detox month as a like to call it. I stay in to save money, cook more (currently on a sugar detox), and generally live within the four walls of my apartment. I’m breaking tradition a bit this weekend as I’m heading out my favorite gal pals to grab dim sum in Chinatown. I’ve lived in Chicago for 5 years now and have still never explored Chinatown, so to say that I’m excited would be an understatement.
We are expecting a bit of a heatwave this weekend with temperatures in the 30’s! Who would have thought that temperatures in the 30’s would excite me so much….I’m taking advantage of the heatwave of sorts and pulling out my favorite casual winter outfit (pre-cold front) of this statement sleeve sweater and flippy skirt.
If there is one trend that I’m still loving from 2017, it’s the tied sleeve sweater trend. It’s a great way of adding some additional detail to what would be a basic outfit, like with this outfit I wore last fall. As someone that has been living in sweaters for the past two weeks (single digit temperatures are no joke), it’s hard to get excited about wearing the same bulky fabric day after day. The extra details really matter and statement sleeves are a great way to add that big of extra to your outfit.
I picked up this tied sleeve sweater for under $50 on ASOS earlier this winter. It’s that magic time of the year when winter items are starting to go on sale but the temperatures keep dropping and you can update your winter wardrobe on a budget. This sweater is currently on super sale on ASOS, so it’s a great time to stock up on this trend while the prices are good.
