Is it just me or is anyone else starting to feel like January blues hit harder this time of the year. Winter is in full swing and living in a concrete city, everything just seems so dark and dreary during the day. If there is one thing that I miss most during the winter season, is the lack of natural color.
Thankfully, we’ve had some days where the weather hasn’t been absolutely freezing. Last week I decided to go sans tights on a 40 degree day, because YOLO. On those warmer than average days, I’ve been able to ditch my puffy winter jacket (for those of you looking for a warm yet affordable winter coat option, I love my Eddie Bauer jacket) I find myself reaching for this new lilac long coat I picked up last week. You guys wouldn’t believe it, but it’s under $60 right now on ASOS!
If you haven’t heard, lilac (and yellow) have replaced millennial pink as the new it color for the generation and I for one am ready for the change. As much as I love pink, things started to get weird.
To break up my own personal style and interject some color into my work wardrobe, I decided that a statement color coat was necessary. Since a statement coat can make an outfit look busy, I decided to keep the rest of my look neutral. A confetti blouse and simple knee length skirt kept the color from becoming too overwhelming.
If you are looking to interject some color into your wardrobe this winter, check out my favorite statement coats below. Best part, they are all under $100!
