Raise your hand if you’ve ever grown frustrated with your workplace wardrobe? Trust me, I’ve been there all too recently myself.
As someone who has written multiple company dress codes throughout her career, you would think that I would be a workwear expert. Yet, more often than not I find myself wearing the same items over and over again, rarely loving what I’m wearing, and apologizing over and over again for my “work clothes” whenever I attend events or happy hours post work.
I’m personally sick of it. As someone who spends 40-45 hours a week at work, I spend more time in my “office clothes” than anything else in my closet. So why aren’t I putting in the effort to feel like a million bucks every single day? Good question.
With the fall season feeling like a fresh new start, I’m starting a new series call Workplace Wednesday, where I’ll be sharing how I’m transforming my office style into something much more “me” but more importantly still office appropriate.
Since it’s pretty clear that I prefer dresses (A-line style, to be exact) over anything else, I decided to toss my current one note styles and opted to pick up this vibrantly printed emerald green and black circle dress from Amazon. Amazon has currently been my go-to store for appropriate work wear styles; which for me include dresses that hit right above or at the knee.
Since I have a loud and vibrant personality (my co-worker’s words….) printed dresses have been my way of showcasing who I am, while still keeping things professional for the workplace. Paired with a nude pair of sandals and a small clutch, keeping accessories minimal, I’m now able to head out the door after work confident in my workplace style.
So I would love to hear from you guys, what frustrations do you guys have with your office style?
