3 Intentions for the New Year

A chunky knitted sweater and brown suede skirt winter outfit for the new yearWelcome to the New Year everyone! I’m embracing 2017 with open arms and a whole lot of intention. Before I dive into my topic du jour, I wanted to say welcome to the semi-new Caravan of Style.

Hopefully some of you noticed that things look a bit different around here and I hope that these changes are met with a positive review. Some of you may have noticed that blog posts were coming in a bit sporadic toward the latter end of 2016 and to be fully honest and transparent, I’ve been having a tough time personally these past few months. Blogging has been the furthest thing from my mind as of late.

After a whole lot of thought and brainstorming these past two weeks, I realized that I wanted to get to happier place in my life and with that, take this blog in a different direction in 2017. I’ve been working hard on planning out some new content and ideas that I have for this little blog of mine; all of which I can’t wait to share with you all. With that being said, I made the decision to let go of my old blog design and start fresh with something a bit more streamlined. (Lindsay did an amazing job with my old blog design and I will forever be grateful to her for taking my jumbled up ideas and putting them together into something amazing.)

I’m not done with the changes just yet! I’ll be making some additional tweaks to the website and all my social media pages throughout month. Stay Tuned!

It’s usually this time of the year that I write a post declaring my goals and resolutions for the upcoming year. This  I realized that it just didn’t feel right to set myself up for inevitable failure. Therefore I’m shifting my focus in 2017 toward intentions that I’ve set for myself in hopes of becoming a better and happier me.

This year I intend to….

1. Be Mindful

This past year I learned that I have a lot of anxiety around situations I can’t control. Much of the time this anxiety prevents me from enjoying the present moments of my life, which makes me feel like I’m not living at all. This year I’m embracing mindfulness wholeheartedly. It’s the small moments of life that can bring you the most joy.

2. Be Positive

This year I intend to wake up each morning and embrace a positive life. There have been one to many days this past year that I’ve woken up dreading the day ahead. Life can sometimes be unpleasant at times but there is always, always something good happening in your life. I plan to wake up with a smile on my face each morning, setting the positive intention for the day ahead.

3. Embrace Growth

Most importantly, I intend to embrace growth in my life. I’ve spend far to many days in my twenties worrying about where I “should be in life” versus looking at how far I have come. I’m removing “should” from my vocabulary and embracing life’s challenges and triumphs. The more you know, the more you grow.

So with my intentions out there in the world, I have all of you to hold me accountable. Anyone else setting intentions for the year? I would love to hear them!
