Do you guys remember receiving your very first adult paycheck? That first post-grad paycheck felt like you were being handed the Holy Grail. After years of being poor, you actually had some spending money. Nothing makes you feel more “adult” than having actual spending money.
If you were anything like me, that first paycheck was spent on the number one item on your wishlist. What was on my wish list? A pair of designer heels. I know, I know – sooo basic
Throughout the years of my childhood, my mom really honed in the “quality over quantity” aspect of fashion. To be honest, for the longest time I thought she was just cheap and didn’t want to buy me the 100 items from Forever 21 that I neeeeded… Hindsight is always 20/20 and clearly my Mom knew what was best.
I distinctly remember receiving that very first paycheck and heading directly to the mall that very same day to purchase my very first pair of Manolo Blahnik heels. It was my first fashion investment piece, one that I’ve come to cherish throughout the years. I still to this day feel extra special the minute I put my pink bow heels.
So last week after a rough few days at work, I decided to pull out my Manolo’s to add a bit of pep in my step. When you wear pumps that basically scream “look at me”, I like to keep the rest of my outfit relatively low key. A simple white midi skirt (last scene here) and navy blouse were the perfect compliment to these heels.
So what was your very first fashion investment? Did you guys save or spend your first adult paycheck?
