Honestly, is there anything more challenging on a Monday morning than getting out of bed and getting properly dressed for the day? I think not. Real talk – I don’t see colors in the morning until I’m halfway through my first cup of coffee, a full cup is necessary on a Monday.
As much as I try to plan my outfits out the night before, things don’t always go according to plan. Say you spill your cup of coffee on the blouse you had planned to wear leading you to scramble up a new outfit 10 minutes before you need to leave your apartment to make it to the office. #everydamnday
Over the past few months, I’ve realized that have a simple go-to outfit ready at all times is key to keeping me sane. A great pair of jeans, like these for under $30!, and a flowy blouse that you can throw on quickly when you’re pressed for time can be a lifesaver. Jeans and a blouse, not exactly groundbreaking in the fashion department but it’s all about the details. Let’s just say it’s all about the uncommon details.
I don’t normally wear of ton of jewelry; I’m more interested in unique and thoughtful jewelry pieces than trendy pieces that turn my skin green. I’m sorry, but I never could get into the #armyparty trend. Recently I’ve been loving Uncommon Goods jewelry selection, with an abundance of jewelry items that are handmade by artists, each item feels extra special.
I recently picked up this hand forged slate and bronze necklace and I’m in love with how beautiful yet simple this piece is. The bronze in the necklace really adds that extra element to this simple outfit that I wore last weekend to brunch. Since I knew that a cold front was headed our way, I also pulled out my wedges for a test run before the official start to the summer party season.
Since Mother’s Day is just a few weeks away, I’m on the hunt for a piece of jewelry my mom will love. The older I get and the more I appreciate everything my mom has done for me; like the whole actually going through labor part because that crap is scary. If life has taught me one thing, it’s that Mom’s love a pretty necklace.
So next time you find yourself saying “I’ve got nothing to wear”, think of these three words. Simple. Easy. Uncommon.
