5 Career Blogs for the Go Getter Girls

5 Career Blogs for the go getter girl, millennial women, career blogs, young women

I have mentioned on the blog a few times that as a day job I’m a recruiter for a marketing and advertising company as well as a recruiting consultant for a few of Chicago’s newest start-ups. I pretty must spend my entire day networking and matching up talented young professionals with companies that will help them grow and succeed. Just like any job out there, my career has a few pitfalls that can make some work days tough but overall the rewards of seeing young professionals genuinely happy in their jobs always puts a smile on my face.

It’s been a heavy recruiting season and with college graduations upon us, my brother just graduated with his degree in education last week (eek!), I’ve decided to share a few of my favorite career/life blogs that give great advice at navigating your career, financial independence, and everything in between.

Just remember, it’s never too late to start something new or change career paths.

:: The Financial Diet ::
For those of you who enjoy reading the occasional millennial catered articles from Thought Catalog blog, you may recognize the name behind this financial budget blog named The Financial Diet. Chelsea Fagan spent many years as the Creative Director over at Though Catalog bringing insight in the world of millennial women. These days she’s curating and writing for the witty and insightful blog – The Financial Diet which gives insightful knowledge on how to live on a budget and within your means in the big city. Her advice is spot on and her writing style brings a familiarity that you can really trust. A must bookmark for those days that you know you shouldn’t be online shopping with only pennies in your account.

:: Career Girl Daily ::
During my high school years I was obsessed with Sex & the City like any young respectable teenage girl. As I’ve gotten older I noticed just how unpractical Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda & Samantha’s lives really were. While I still enjoy the glitz & glamour, let’s get real – who has that must time in their day to have dinner/drinks, shop, date & hold down a full time job. Career Girl Daily has brought back that glamour that the show once did in blog form, but with great career knowledge on how to really lean in and make the most out of your twenties.

:: Career Contessa ::
Ever get the case of #FOMO when scrolling through your Instagram feed wondering how these amazing bloggers are able to make a full time career out of blogging? Well Career Contessa has asked those same questions and gotten answers from a few famous faces. I love this blog for it’s honest conversations about work, life and everything in between. Bookmark this site on those days you feel stuck in your job feeling like you don’t have any other way out – inspiration will come quickly.

:: Ms. Career Girl ::
Ms. Career Girl has been a daily read for me ever since I started my professional career after college. Insightful and packed with down right honest advice how to push yourself to go for the career that you want, the editors hold nothing back. Let’s be honest, they don’t call it work for nothing but Ms. Career Girl is able to break down the not so fun parts about a job and help you through the rough times.
A recent article from the founder Nicole Emerick really had me shaking my head in agreement, passion and career don’t always go hand in hand. The career woman always trumps the blogger in me: “Dear Bloggers, I’m Sick of Reading about Passion

:: The Simply Luxurious Life ::
This personal blog was started by school teacher Shannon Ables who realized quickly that the luxury life she wished and hope was achievable within her own proximity. What does that mean? Well you don’t need six pairs of Manolo Blahniks and a closet full of designers duds to feel luxurious. Is that the life you really want? Shannon does a great job in her weekly podcasts in thoughts on how to create a luxurious life within our means while expanding our knowledge of the world in so many other areas. I’ve bookmarked a few favorite posts as of late: How to Construct a Healthy Social Circle, 3 Ways to Design a Life That Works For You, & 13 Ways to Cultivate True Wealth.

    The Financial Diet and Career Contessa are two of my go-to’s! At first glance of the Dear bloggers post it sort of reminds me of one I read yesterday on Chelsea’s blog about a blogger preaching to follow your dreams. I can’t wait to check out the rest of the site 🙂

    Wonderful resources! I’ve definitely been thinking about advice for young professionals as graduation comes around. This week was my “Work Week” theme, actually!
