I will be the first to admit that the minute the holiday season is over and the winter season starts to set, I get a little blue. I’ve never been very good at dressing myself during the cold weather months, so I tend to wear the same sweater and jean combo day after day. Part of the issue is that there are quite a few winter item staples that are just not flattering on a pear shaped girl. For instance, boot shopping is one of the most frustrating processes in the world for me. I tend to be really self conscious of my thick calfs and it doesn’t help that the average boot doesn’t fit said man calfs; even those labeled “wide shaft”. It’s been a years long process for me to find a pair of black suede boots that I could wear to the office with skirts or dresses. I’m holding out hope that one day someone out there will create such a boot for me.
Last week we had a few mild winter days and I thankful that I could turn in my jean and sweater combo and pull out a few favorite sweater dress of mine. This sweater dress (on sale!) was a random purchase from ASOS a few weeks ago and has become a favorite of mine. The fabric is comfortable and the A-line silhouette is ultra flattering. For that one day the sun was shining, I wore a dress I loved that didn’t require tights, and Chicago gave us a small glimpse into spring. Then we got a huge snowstorm dumped on us on Sunday. BOO Mother Nature.
