Happy Happy 2015! There is a bit of excitement in the air whenever we close out one calendar year and turn our heads toward the full of possibilities new year. At the beginning of this past holiday season, I decided that I wouldn’t be declaring any resolutions for 2015. Instead I made a list of 3 things I regretted or wished I had changed in 2014. After defining the key points, I vowed to make changes immediately – no waiting for a specific date. I vowed to let go of things I could not change and eliminate the stress of trying to post every moment of my life on social media. I kept my phone in my bag and away from my hands at events, gatherings and time spent with family and friends. It was easier than I thought to let go of it all and I plan to continue to be more present in all situations in the new year.
I may have mentioned a few months ago that I started a wonderful new job with a built in Chicago company. It has been an adventure filled with challenges, changes, and so much opportunity that I’m excited to see what comes in the upcoming months. The #1 challenge I faced these past few months has been dressing appropriately for the winter commute. I was fortunate enough to work from home in my last job which allowed me to avoid the entire winter commute. I ended up purchasing far to many oversized sweaters that ended up not quite fitting in with my personal style; I ended up wearing outfits that I didn’t feel like myself in. My solution has been to take the oversized sweaters and bring back definition to the style by pairing them with structured skirts. This outfit was my savior this holiday season, comfortable yet structured and the perfect neutral gray that allowed a easy work-to-play transition with a few accessory swaps.
